Seeking a Field Producer based anywhere in the US for a small independent documentary following Southeast Asians in American politics. Travel costs are covered, travel is involved to a few different states.
Schedule is sporadic, over the course Sept-Nov 2024, leading up to the election. Approx 10-15 shoot days.

MUST have field experience working on a verite documentary or documentary series, must be a pro-active, team player!

Experience and interest in political projects a plus!
Some responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
-Running verite shoots with a one man band DP
-Liaising between interviewees/on-camera talent
-Looking after the crew in the field, ie: being conscious of schedule/hours/meals
-Tracking story beats/hot sheets on any given shoot day

Job Description

As an Associate Producer, you will work directly with Producers and Senior Producers to help write and assist in the production of original content for TODAY.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and modify graphic orders, assign uncompleted requests, and produce additional elements to enhance segments.
  • Serve as the final evaluator of prepared graphics, ensuring elements are accurate, error-free, and made in accordance with the producers' desires and the show's look and feel.
  • Manage graphics from conceptualization to completion, including animations, maps, photographs, text panels, monitors and lower thirds.
  • Review producers' notes to develop in-depth knowledge of all segments.
  • Act as liaison for producers, artists, graphics playback operators and control room team to translate the show's requests into suitable broadcast elements.
  • When assigned, works in Control Room with Director and Producers to prepare and execute rundown elements during live shows.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years production and graphics experience in news production at the network or cable news level
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communication, English or a related field of study
  • Strong journalistic research skills, aesthetic and editorial judgment
  • Excellent verbal communication and problem-solving skills under tight deadlines

Hiring Salary Range: $87,000.00 - 110,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Qualifications:

  • Strong editorial judgment.
  • 8+ years of journalism experience at a broadcast network, cable, or digital news company.
  • Strong background in writing, copy editing, field production and video production.
  • Proven track record of team management with a positive culture.
  • Must be able to work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require; Must be willing to work during evening hours
  • Must possess a driver's license and be willing to drive

Preferred qualifications:

  • Some experience shooting and editing experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $180,000.00 - 190,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
