What is a disc golf scene? ›

A disc golf course is typically composed of 9 or 18 holes. On each hole players attempt to reach a target, starting at the tee. Distances vary be- tween 60 and 150 meters. Almost anything can serve as a goal: a tree, a lamppost or a dustbin. In official tournaments disc trapping targets are used.

C-Tier. These are local events that can easily be run in one day, on one course, with a minimal amount of staff and volunteers, but they certainly do not have to be small and/or simple.

In the case of disc golf, off axis torque is a rotational force about an axis that doesn't go through the center of the disc in a direction perpendicular to the flight plate at the time of release. OAT can cause the disc to act either more or less overstable than the disc would if the throw was clean.

The SSA is the score a scratch player with a rating of 1000 would be expected to average on that course. For example, let's say the SSA is calculated as 50 for an 18-hole course. Any player who shot a 50 that round would receive a rating of 1000 for that round.

ABCD format - refers to a 4 person team grouping (assigned by the tournament committee) where the A player has the lowest handicap in the grouping, while the D player has the highest. There is no set standard for where those handicaps must fall.

The 888 triggers a penalty lowering the player's overall rating up to 5 rating points for a 6 month period. If their current rating is within 5 points of dropping into a lower division, their rating will only be dropped enough to keep them in their current division.

Drive – The first throw from a tee pad. Can also refer to a long subsequent throw. Driver – A higher speed rated disc usually used for the initial throw from a tee pad. Drop zone – An area designated as a spot to throw from if the prior throw missed a mando or goes Out of Bounds (OB).

Quite simply, an albatross in disc golf is when a player completes a hole three shots under par. On a par 5 hole, this means reaching the target in only 2 throws. Albatrosses are extremely rare and represent an impressive feat of distance and accuracy.
